With deep expertise in venture capital, AI infrastructure, and national innovation strategy, he has been instrumental in shaping Canada’s deep tech landscape. As a Senior Advisor at Antares Ventures, he helps position Canadian deep tech and cleantech startups for global impact, particularly in Asia Growth markets.
WORK EXPERIENCE
As Co-Founder of a national-scale, stealth-mode AI infrastructure initiative, Thomas collaborates with leaders from Canada’s tech ecosystem, pension funds, asset managers, and utilities to establish the country as a global leader in AI, focusing on infrastructure, national competitiveness, and data-driven innovation. He also serves as an Executive Adviser at NorthGuide, advising organizations, governments, and communities on innovation strategies that drive measurable impact. Additionally, as the Founder of the Asian Canadian Ventures Collective (ACVC), he leads a national network of over 500 members dedicated to empowering diverse leaders in shaping Canada’s innovation future.
Previously, Thomas was Partner and Lead for BDC’s $200M Deep Tech Fund, where he invested in cutting-edge Canadian technologies and played a critical role in bridging R&D and commercialization. As Vice President of Strategic Initiatives & Operations at BDC Capital, he managed a $5 billion+ portfolio and led high-performing teams that shaped Canada’s venture capital landscape. His career also spans global markets, including experience in the defense sector, multinational organizations, and government agencies. Earlier in his career, he worked at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, McKinsey & Company, and international legal institutions. A recognized leader, he serves on several boards, including Venture for Canada, McGill University, Toronto Metropolitan University, and the Banff Forum. He was named one of Canada’s Top 40 Under 40.
