Marco Breu is an entrepreneur, business leader and senior executive with more than 25 years of experience, of which 20 years in Southeast Asia. He set up McKinsey’s presence in Vietnam in 2018, and led their office for 12 years, and previously managed its Thailand office.
He serves as President and Chairman at Orionis Capital, a Vietnam-based investment firm leveraging his experience to guide investment and business scaling initiatives. Marco remains a Senior Advisor for McKinsey & Company, and continues to serve clients in Vietnam. His career with McKinsey also included significant roles in Singapore, Europe, the Middle East, and Korea, focusing on financial institutions and broader business transformation projects.
Marco’s professional journey reflects his deep engagement with the entrepreneurial ecosystem in Southeast Asia. He co-founded the Mekong Business Challenge, a regional youth entrepreneurship program that supports budding entrepreneurs across Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, Thailand, Myanmar, and Bhutan.
As an avid investor, Marco has built a diverse portfolio of over 20 startups in Vietnam, Southeast Asia, Europe, and the US, achieving multiple notable exits. His expertise spans financial services, e-commerce, data analytics, real estate, and infrastructure.
Marco holds an MBA from the University of St. Gallen in Switzerland. His academic foundation and extensive professional experience have enabled him to contribute significantly to the development of Southeast Asian startup and business communities.
